Our trip to the museum

Today we went to the Rotorua museum and looked around at all the galleries.The first gallery was about Pukaki we learnt the maori word for treasure and when the  carving was made.The thing i liked about this gallery was the statue of Pukaki.
Gallery2
was about the Te Arawa people and the things that helped them get to Aotearoa.We also learnt about who the adeze (cutting tool) once belonged to.My favourite part was seeing the tool in person.
Gallery3 had lots of things that belonged to the maori ancestors they were fish hooks and a flute.
Gallery4 was about the Pataka the store house where they stored all the food.
Gallery5 was about the things that the Europeans bout over that the maoris had never seen before.
Gallery6 was all about the pink and white terraces and what there maori names are.The maori name for the pink terrace was Otukapuarangi and the maori name for the white terrace is Te Tarata.
Gallery7 was about the soldiers in the b group of the maori battalion that fought in world war 2.We also learnt about Miss new zealand which was Linda Ritchie.
Gallery8 had a carving of Te Rangitakaroro which was originally used as a gate way and in 2001 1 in 9 people were living overseas.
Some of the other rooms were the north wing which was about taking the cure and we did a sketch abot the boy and the dog.We also went in the atic and we went up the stairs to the viewing platform we we learnt that the water was once as high as Mount Ngongotaha.
